It’s early morning and the sun hasn’t come up

It’s early morning and the sun hasn’t come up yet. If I make it in time, I can be at the beach to watch the sunrise. The stars in the sky are waving goodbye as I walk barefoot by the water’s edge…feeling my feet sink into the warm golden sand. The water is like bath water as the small waves lap on the shore. There is no one in sight. Just me, the dimming stars, the ocean and the colors in the sky. It’s the peaceful quiet that fills my heart with joy. I put my things up higher on the beach and walk to the water’s edge and sit down allowing the waves to reach me and wash over my legs and seat. This is bliss. Slowly the rays of the new day begin to flash up at the horizon. I slowly enter the warm turquoise water and watch the colors change as the sun starts to peek up from hiding. I am in nature, communing with nature and enjoying the birth of a new day.

I realize that this connection has been missing from my life yet it is the one that makes me feel whole. More of this please. I think about how a few weeks ago during my birthday, I spent the morning with my best friend biking down to Encinitas and how in the afternoon I got to catch up with a dear friend (who’s a powerful green soul) for an outside snack on the beach. These connections fill my soul. I think about how my connection with my new rescue dog, Riley, has grown over the last month since I adopted her. Our connection to animals makes us complete.

And then I think of the amazing souls that I get to meet in my work. How I’m able to connect with and honor them by seeing their soul’s story. It’s these simple yet powerful connections that help us as we traverse through the challenges of life. It is these connections that I’m most grateful for.

So as I sit in the sea and watch a new dawn at the end of this most tumultuous year where we’re not able to connect in ways we’ve grown accustomed to, how can you move forward to a better you, a more connected and fuller you?

I offer this simple formula:

Humans x Nature x Animals x Divine = Connection
